Tammy’s life has been all about animals. She started as a teenager with horses and since 1992 when her daughter was born, it has been all about dogs! Tammy began instructing lessons for dog trainers in 1993 and has been doing so ever since.
Training dogs, and teaching people how to communicate with and listen to dogs, is Tammy’s passion. She never stops trying to learn more about dogs, dog behaviour and being a more effective teacher. Tammy was one of the first dog trainers in Canada to become certified professionally. She currently holds membership with the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), The Pet Professional Guild and the Alberta Force Free Alliance. Tammy is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (Knowledge Assessed) and a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Trainer Partner. Her professional accomplishments include hosting 2 national dog trainer conferences, several internationally renowned authors and speakers and being a presenter at national conferences including Humane Canada (formerly CFHS) and the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (CAPPDT).
Tammy loves learning and attends continuing education opportunities annually, listens to podcasts, attends webinars and reads everything she can about using positive, fear free methods to change behaviour on both ends of the leash.
A self proclaimed ‘dog nerd’, when not doing activities that include dogs, you can find Tammy participating in crazy outdoor adventures with her man, Laurie; horse back riding with her daughter, Emily, or soaking in quiet time outdoors – all with dogs along. She also enjoys learning something new like photography or painting and we bet you can guess the usual subject!
